Here's a short program description from the PUMPed to Run website:
PUMPed to Run is a downtown Pittsburgh based morning running group composed of residents of local homeless shelters, and PSL volunteer mentor runners. Through the leadership of PUMP staff, Allegheny Department of Human Services, and an Advisory Committee the PUMPed to Run program seeks to encourage sportsmanship, and a team mentality to help set physical running goals, promote confidence and encourage self sufficiency. This approach will support active community participants in building a better Pittsburgh for everyone by encouraging our members to be involved in change and connectivity. We will ensure that everyone has a place, a voice, and access to information and resources.
Please bring in your new or gently-used running shoes or apparel so we can provide the PUMPed to Run program participants with the essentials to help them on their running journey!
