Coming all the way from Texas, James has decided to join the Fleet Feet Sports family!
Originally from Houston, James began his running career at Colby Community College located in Colby, Kansas. There, he found his love for the sport where he became a 3x All-American award recipient, including a runner-up finish at the 2012 NJCAA Indoor National Championships. After receiving his A.A. in General Studies, James transferred to the University of Central Arkansas (Conway, Arkansas) where he continued his educational and running paths. He was named team captain both years at UCA, and was All-Conference performer during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. In 2014 he received a B.S. in Health Education.
Wanting to continue his educational and athletic experience, James decided to attend Graduate School at Texas State University (San Marcos, Texas). His primary focus would be on their Educational Technology program, but having one more season of cross country and outdoor track eligibility, he decided to go for it all. Throughout his year at Texas State, James finished a 3.0 student, and set personal bests in the 5k, 8k, 1500m, and 800m runs.
Currently, James is a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the University of Pittsburgh cross country/track and field programs! He loves developing athletes on and off the competition surfaces, and believes a strong mind, hard work, and consistency can not only benefit you in the athletic arena, but can help guide you to making smart decisions in your everyday life. He is still training to race fast, so catch him at the local races surrounding the Pittsburgh area rocking the signature Fleet Feet Sports singlet!
